We became involved in LEGO® brick building classes because our kids love to create and build with LEGO® bricks. But more importantly, we noticed how much creativity and imagination was displayed when they designed and built their own models.

Beginning in 2010 we ran a brick building activity as part of an after school enrichment program at our local LCPS elementary school.  The activity was very popular, with many kids coming back for repeat sessions.  Due to its popularity, we added a summer program in 2011 that we continue to offer.

We joined a First LEGO League® robotics team in 2011 which won first place overall at our regional tournament and a first place programming award at the state tournament. We experienced how the LEGO® Educational programs can help inspire kids to be excited about learning, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  In addition, the programs foster problem-solving, self-esteem, and literacy.

Because of the power of LEGO® brick building and robotics to inspire creativity, imagination, and excitement in learning, we decided to start Bricks ‘n Bots in 2012.  Our current classes feature themed and open-play brick building and The LEGO® Group’s WeDo Robotics Education program for juniors, recommended for kids ages 7 – 12.

We have held classes and camps at Broadlands Community Center, Loudoun Valley Estates II, Willowsford, Mill Run Elementary, Rosa Lee Carter, Virginia Academy, and our own facility in Ashburn, Va until closure in 2020 after the pandemic. Please join us as we begin again around Ashburn, Va.
